The previous Friday, I’d tried prolonging the effect of Adderall later into the day by simply taking my first dose much later. I am usually ok in the morning, till 11:00 or so, if I’ve had a good night’s sleep – so it’s not much of a sacrifice to not take it till 9:00 or 10:00.
Unfortunately, however, during week three, the duration of each dose seemed to be decreasing on a daily basis. It seemed like about 3-4 hours after I took it, I’d start to feel the “crash” – the urge to yawn, heavy eyes, etc. This is course was just a continuation of the trend that started during week 2.
So near the beginning of week 3, I tried something different yet again. I broke the adderall into 4 separate doses of 5 mg’s each.
 At 5 mg’s, the effects of Adderall are much less dramatic, but it still kept me wide awake, and I was still able to be very productive throughout the day. If I took the first around 8:00 in the morning, I could stretch the effects into mid-evening.
Near the end of the week, I took that strategy a step further, and split the doses into eight 2.5mg doses. Interestingly, the effects at 2.5mgs did not equal half of the 5mg effects. It was more like 80% of the 5mg effects. It has actually occurred to me that maybe the most efficient form of dosing would be to dissolve two tablets in a 32oz bottle of water, and drink it constantly throughout the day. I could start early in the morning, and try to drink about half of it by 2:00 or so, and stretch the rest through the day, into the evening. I haven’t done this yet, but may try soon.
For the rest of week 3, I took my 2.5mg doses, starting around 8:00. At this point I started having to really schedule doses! By Friday it was something like:
8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 1:30, 3:00, 5:00, 6:30, 7:30
You can see that it compresses around early afternoon, and then again in the evening. Those are the times when drowsiness hits me the hardest. Mid-morning at Late Afternoon I can lighten up a little bit and not get too tired.
It might seem a little arduous to have to think that much about dosing all day long, but it’s really not. First of all, I always start the day with the two 10mg adderall pills in my small watch pocket. Haven’t lost one yet. Then when I start to feel a slight drowsiness coming on, I dig one out, break off a 4th, and take it. It’s not something I really have to think about – my body reminds me!
On Saturday I did take a partial dose, and like the previous weekend, it didn’t seem to have any effect. I still don’t know why this is.
On Sunday, I took 1/4th (2.5mgs) in early evening as I was becoming extremely tired, but that was it for the week. Sleep on Sunday night, as with every other night during week 3, came easily.
